A worker finally moves into affordable housing — and discovers that outfitting it as a home is out of reach. A bed, a couch, a kitchen table: all brand new, all available through Storehouse at approximately 4% of retail, accessed by the nonprofits already serving them.

Employers want to invest in their teams beyond a paycheck. Workforce nonprofits support those employees directly but often have to prioritize urgent cash needs, leaving essential goods out of reach.
That’s where Storehouse comes in. Through Storehouse, employer and foundation dollars stretch further:
• Funds can be directed to a specific workforce nonprofit, creating a dedicated account for the employees they serve
• Or, support can be given broadly to expand impact across the full network
Because goods are sourced at about 4% of retail cost, every dollar goes significantly further — helping workers access the essentials they need to stay stable, focused, and supported.

The model in practice.
The Source is a Grand Rapids based nonprofit that stabilizes the workforce by embedding Resource Navigators inside partner companies — trusted advocates who help employees navigate the challenges outside of work that threaten their jobs. For over 20 years they have worked across Kent, Ottawa, and Muskegon counties, going deep inside the lives of the workers they serve.
The Source partners with Storehouse to access the goods their clients need — beds, couches, kitchen tables, personal care products, clothing — at approximately 4% of retail. The Source selects goods on behalf of the workers they serve and distributes them directly. Workers receive brand new goods with dignity, through the organization that already has their trust.
Employers like Joseph Jeup partner with The Source to help their workers access these resources. The model works because it meets workers where they are, through organizations already embedded in their lives.
